What effect does improvement to community property using community funds have on a divorce action?

I spent substantial community funds to improve our community home. Is it possible to claim all the monies spent on the contractors as monies that she owes back to me 50/50 or can I have the house appraised with and without the work and spilt 50/50 either of the invoices for the work or the gain in value? I am already getting 50/50 of this commuinity et. If there is any law that I can read for community monies improving commuinity ets, please let me know Thanks
