How do you give gripe water to your baby?

Mine is 2 months old, and we can put a dose in his bottle when he drinks that feeding, but all the other time i am feeding and when I try to squirt the gripe water into his mouth with the syringe provided, he just spits it all out because it is quite a large amount (2 doses of 2.5ml). I'm able to give him the mylicon drops easily bc it is the dropper and only is, what, 0.3ml? ...but how do you feed the baby gripe water, straight up?
